
A Business Activity Statement is used by businesses to report and pay a number of tax obligations, including GST, pay as you go (PAYG) instalments, PAYG withholding and fringe benefits tax. Activity statements are also used by individuals who need to pay quarterly PAYG instalments. Generally, the due date for lodging and paying is pre-printed at the top right-hand corner of your activity statement.

Usually, arrangements can be made to pay your tax debt over an extended period. Keep a copy of your business activity statement and the records you used to prepare it for five years after they are prepared, obtained or the transactions completed, whichever is the later.
